  Learning a second language is a vital skill that gives you the opportunity to engage with the world in a more meaningful way. There are many cognitive benefits from learning languages including improved memory, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, enhanced concentration, multi-tasking, intercultural and communication skills.

  The study of English is central to the learning and development of all students. At Dandenong South Primary School, we prioritise the teaching and learning of Literacy.
  
  
• Mathematics
  Dandenong South Primary School recognises that Mathematics teaches us how to make sense of the world around us through developing a child’s ability to calculate, reason and solve problems.
  
  
• Digital Technologies
  We use Digital Technologies to enhance teaching and learning as well as promote creativity in a safe and supported space. Our students are contributing digital citizens with access to a world of new learning.
  
  
• Foundation – Year Two Investigations
  At Dandenong South Primary School the students in Foundation to Year Two follow a play based learning approach based on the Kathy Walker Learning Model.
  
  
• Inquiry
  At Dandenong South Primary School, we have used a concept based Inquiry scope and sequence for students in Years 3 to 6, incorporating learning in the areas of Science, Health, Civics and Citizenship, Geography, History, Economics and Business, Digital Technologies and Design Technology.
